There are different types of motivation. There is the initial type that sparks a new action - that feeling that you are excited to try something new. That usually wears off after about 2 weeks. Hence, why many people who try a new thing, like changing their diet, will quit after 2 weeks. In order to keep going, you need a second type of motivation to take over, one that drives you to push through barriers to get to that big goal.
