Breaking off old bloom stalks for the summer. Why do I do this?! So the moisture from the stalks don’t rot the mother plant. It will create a scar where it is broken off and will heal itself. Also I can check every bunch of iris in my field to make sure there aren’t random seed pods that would complete mess up what I dig if they ever germinated and started to grow. If you live in a very hot climate, your stalks might dry up right away. So, keep an eye on them. Better to be safe than sorry! | Rip
