The Baby Reflex You Didn’t Know About Newborns have a natural reflex called the Mammalian Dive Reflex, which automatically closes their airway and slows their heart rate when their face touches water. This instinct helps protect them during brief contact with water. ⚠ However, this does NOT make swimming safe for babies—always keep them out of deep water and supervised at all times. If your child struggles with anxiety 😟 or panic attacks 😰, you can use the mammalian dive reflex to activate the vagus nerve 🧠 and help the nervous system shift out of fight-or-flight mode 🚦 All you need 🧊: A cold towel (icy cold from the fridge) 🥶 Place it gently over the forehead. This cooling effect stimulates the vagus nerve, helping the body calm down before panic fully takes over 💙. A simple, powerful tool for easing anxiety in kids. #anxietyrelief #panicattackhelp #vagusnerve #nerv
