Chain Controls Thursday morning along I-80 over Donner Summit, and the Mt. Rose Highway, and US-50 Echo Summit. Our valley roads are doing ok so far this morning around Reno and Carson City. Spooner, Kingsbury and Geiger Grade are snow free so far. Expect winter driving conditions in the mountains through the weekend and into early next week with a series of storms pounding the mountains with heavy rain and snow showers. Road conditions are much better this Tuesday morning as I-80 over Donner Summit is open with no chain controls. Higher elevation passes such as the Mt. Rose Highway, Spooner, Kingsbury and Echo Summit still have chain controls, along with Geiger Grade and the Carson Pass. Roads up there will improve by midday with good travel weather through the weekend. Our next storm moves in Sunday night into next Monday. Next week a series of storms will bring us more mountain snow and valley showers through
