Speaking alongside Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow, India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar hit back at Washington’s justification for penal tariffs on New Delhi’s Russian oil purchases. “We are very perplexed at the logic of the argument,” Jaishankar said, pointing out the hypocrisy: • India is not the biggest purchaser of Russian oil, that’s China. • India is not the biggest buyer of LNG, that’s the European Union. • India has not had the largest trade surge with Russia post-20
