Hug Point State Recreation Site located just 5 miles south of Cannon Beach is an absolutely must see. With beautiful beaches, sand stone cliffs, massive sea caves and a waterfall to explore. But most interesting is the old road that Hug Point is named after. Before Hwy 101 was built there were no roads connecting beach towns along the coast. People would travel by beach at low tide, but this particular location was difficult to navigate, so a trail was blasted out of the sand stone cliff to hug
