How would you describe an elk bugle? We are nearing the peak of the elk rut. Now is the time bugling bulls can be heard echoing throughout the hills in Pennsylvania’s elk range. Bulls are attracting cows into their harems and to warn away other bulls. Some describe the bugling sound as “haunting,” especially when hearing it in the early morning fog or in the dark of night.
