Colorado sees spike in coyote sightings as CPW urges safety

After a recent coyote attack that left a 4-year-old Colorado girl hospitalized on Thanksgiving Day, an expert explains why coyotes are “opportunistic” animals that thrive around people. Research by The Denver Metro Area Coyote Study found that coyotes are doing quite well in urban areas largely due to the increased presence of rodents, rabbits and other food sources like fruits and vegetables and garbage.
