Rep. Rob Bresnahan (R-Pa.) on Tuesday introduced a bill to fund the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) during the government shutdown, as the funding lapse threatens payments of benefits if it continues.
It's been 29 days since the government shutdown began, and the pause of SNAP benefits next month have some Iowans worried about other programs losing funding like WIC.
"At this time, DPH is projecting that Georgia WIC will have sufficient funding to continue program operations through approximately mid-November," officials said.

Georgia health officials say WIC funding could run out by mid-November if the federal government shutdown continues.
Nutrition Program offices will stay open through November, Spokane Regional Health District announced on Wednesday.
Despite the federal government shutdown, Missourians on the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children will be able to redeem their benefits during the month of November. But state officials are unsure how long these benefits will remain available.
"People really are in desperate need right now," said a mother from Mesa, as the ongoing federal government shutdown threatens to impact WIC benefit payments.
