Victor Martinez-Hernandez was sentenced Monday to life without parole after hearing directly from her family in open court.

A 24-year-old man from El Salvador who unlawfully entered the United States was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole Monday in the 2023 rape and murder of a Maryland mother of five, a case held up by President Donald Trump against the former administration’s immigration policies.

The sentencing of the illegal immigrant found guilty of murdering a Maryland woman, Rachel Morin, in 2023, took place in the Harford County Circuit Court in Bel Air on Monday. Morin’s loved ones gave victim impact statements during the hearing.
