Dallas Stars forward Mikko Rantanen has taken over the Stanley Cup Playoffs—and the NHL is struggling to describe what he’s doing. After recording a Game 7 hat trick to eliminate his former team, the Colorado Avalanche, the Stars winger followed it up with another three-goal period Wednesday in a 3-2 Game 1 win over the Winnipeg Jets.

The night got underway with the Maple Leafs outlasting the Panthers, 4-3, behind two-point performances from Max Pacioretty, Max Domi and Morgan Rielly. Pacioretty continued his spectacular level of play with a goal and an assist to pace the Maple Leafs, who take 2-0 series lead to South Florida.

The Dallas Stars’ playoff push continues. After dispatching Colorado in seven games, the Stars have hit the road to start their next playoff series. Dallas faces the Winnipeg Jets, a squad featuring one of the NHL’s top goaltenders in Connor Hellebuyck.
