Invest 97-L could intensify into the next tropical depression or storm in the Atlantic this week, according to the National Hurricane Center. The NHC is monitoring showers and thunderstorms associated with a well-defined low-pressure area in the Atlantic near Cabo Verde.

Tropical Storm Erin formed in the eastern Atlantic Ocean on Monday, forecasters said. The storm could strengthen to become the Atlantic's first hurricane of the season.

A low-pressure system situated west of the Cabo Verde Islands in the eastern Atlantic is generating a sustained cluster of showers and thunderstorms, the NHC says.
