Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said that Canada and India had agreed to reinstate their top diplomats and renew visa services to each other’s citizens and businesses. This came after he met India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G7 summit in Kananaskis.

The leaders of India and Canada on Tuesday held their first bilateral meeting since then-Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused New Delhi in 2023 of involvement in the killing of a Canadian Sikh separatist.

G7 summit in Kananaskis, Canada, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney negotiated a reset in relations, aiming to ease nearly two years of diplomatic strain triggered by the assassination of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia in June 2023.
