(WJAR) — Gov. Maura Healey accused President Donald Trump of making the cruel choice of not funding SNAP benefits during the government shutdown, and she demanded he release contingency funds to keep vulnerable families from going hungry.
Governor Healey appeals to President Trump to reconsider cuts to SNAP benefits affecting Massachusetts residents.
"The federal government provides about $240 million a month in SNAP benefits to Massachusetts residents," Healey said. "There's no way that the state can make up for that."
