Security forces succeed in shooting down only about half the weapons-smuggling drones infiltrating the Egypt-Israel border, sources say.

According to the Egypt-Israel peace treaty, Israel must approve the transfer of heavy weaponry and increases in troops into the peninsula. An Egyptian military source tells the newspaper that the increase in military forces in the Sinai would deter Israel from forcing Gazans across the border.

The Palestinian embassy in Egypt announced that the Rafah crossing will reopen, allowing Palestinians to return to Gaza nearly a week after the U.S.-brokered ceasefire and hostage deal.

Israeli authorities have deported 154 Palestinian prisoners to Egypt in a highly controversial move that has sparked anger and threats of retaliation from Hamas’ military wing, the Al‑Qassam Brigades.
