The Fort Worth City Council voted 9 to 1 to hire former assistant city manager Jay Chapa to be the next city manager. District 6 council member Jared Williams abstained from the vote over objections to the process.

Fort Worth City Council appoints Jay Chapa as city manager
Jesus “Jay” Chapa was appointed as Fort Worth City Manager after a 9-1 vote. Council member Chris Nettles was the sole "no" vote, and council member Dr. Jared Williams abstained. Ahead of the vote, Nettles, Williams and other community leaders had called for the vote to be postponed amid concerns about the process.
