The Virginia Tech Hokies opened the 2025-26 college basketball season on Monday with a 98-67 win over the Charleston Southern Buccaneers at Cassell Coliseum. Forwards Tobi Lawal (20 points, 12 rebounds) and Amani Hansberry (19 points, 13 rebounds) each had double-doubles to lead the Hokies.

Miami surprisingly is favored by 15 1/2 points, considering N.C. State has already beaten two of the top teams in the ACC. But everything points to a UM win.

On Thursday evening, the ACC released its first availability report for the game. The report will be updated on Friday and two hours before kickoff on Saturday. Florida State will only have to release these reports for conference games. The first availability report of the week for Florida State provided clarity on numerous Seminoles.

The Hokies defeated the Charleston Southern Buccaneers 98-67 in their season opener on Monday. Senior forward Tobi Lawal and junior center Amani Hansberry both recorded double-doubles in the victory. Lawal finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Hansberry — a transfer from West Virginia — added 19 points and 13 rebounds.
