Alabama’s loss to the Florida State Seminoles on opening day left the Crimson Tide reeling. Questions were forming about Kalen DeBoer. Ty Simpson had failed to establish any sense of an identity, and fans were beginning to long for the days of Nick Saban.
Jon Sauber of The Centre Daily Times, reported DeBoer is a leading candidate for the Nittany Lions, who fired longtime head coach James Franklin in the midst of a three-game losing streak. Franklin has since landed the Virginia Tech job and significantly reduced his buyout, paving the way for Penn State to take a big swing.
Alabama had a chance to cruise into a first-round College Football Playoff bye if it had beaten Oklahoma on Saturday. Instead, the Crimson Tide lost its first home game since the 2023 season 23-21.
