Utah Hockey Club is morphing into the Utah Mammoth. That’s what the NHL franchise will permanently be known as, the organization announced Wednesday, following a 13-month process that included four rounds of fan voting and more than 850,000 ballots cast.

After a mammoth undertaking of buying an NHL team, moving players, coaches and a full staff more than 600 miles and getting it all together in a matter of months before the puck dropped on a new season,

The new name for Utah’s NHL team, which completed its inaugural season after emerging from the ashes of the Arizona Coyotes, was picked by fans through multiple rounds of voting.
