SALT LAKE CITY -- Casey DeSmith made 34 saves for the Dallas Stars, who held on to defeat the Utah Hockey Club 2-1 at Delta Center on Monday. It was DeSmith's first win since Oct. 24.

For the third time this month, the Utah Hockey Club will face the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday. The Golden Knights won both previous games. In both instances, Utah HC gained a 2-0 lead, but ultimately let it slip away.

MONTREAL (AP) — Mikhail Sergachev scored the overtime winner as the Utah Hockey Club beat the Montreal Canadiens 3-2 on Tuesday night. Sergachev tapped in a pass from Nick Schmaltz with 27 seconds left in the extra period to end the game. Jack McBain and Dylan Guenther also scored for Utah. Karel Vejmelka made 11 saves.

DeSmith, coming off a disastrous outing in which he gave up six goals, came up big for Dallas in the win over Utah.

Dallas went ahead 2-0 with two second period goals and hung on through a massive Utah push in the final period to win 2-1, with Casey DeSmith stealing the show between the pipes and captain Jamie Benn scoring the game-winning goal.
