Parts of New Jersey are starting to get pelted by strong thunderstorms with heavy downpours, small hail and gusty winds, prompting the National Weather Service to issue severe thunderstorm warnings in one county Tuesday afternoon.

The NWS Reno NV issued a severe thunderstorm warning at 3:41 p.m. on Wednesday in effect until 4:15 p.m. The warning is for Alpine, El Dorado and Placer counties. Brace for nickel-sized hail (0.88 inches) and wind gusts of up to 60 mph.
