Jasmine Paolini became the first woman since Monica Seles in 1990 to win the Italian Open singles and doubles titles when she and Sara Errani beat Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens 6-4, 7-5 on Sunday.

Jasmine Paolini got the party started at the Foro Italico. And now the stage is set for Jannik Sinner to cap it off. Paolini took advantage of the crowd’s support and beat Coco Gauff 6-4, 6-2 to become the first home player to win the Italian Open in 40 years on Saturday.

Paolini also became the third player this century to win her maiden clay-court title in Rome, after Jelena Dokic (2001) and Serena Williams (2002)
