A total "blood moon" lunar eclipse peaked overnight and lit up skies across the Pittsburgh area and throughout western Pennsylvania.The total eclipse began Friday at 2:26 a.m. and lasted for nearly an hour.

North America's first total lunar eclipse since 2022 will be visible the night of March 13-14. This will be for the real night owls or the very early birds. The total eclipse begins at 2:26 AM Friday and will last for a little over an hour. This is when the Moon will appear a reddish brown.

In the early morning hours this Friday, a total lunar eclipse will be visible throughout western Pennsylvania.
