The Indiana Pacers emphatically pushed the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers to the brink of playoff elimination with a dominant 129-109 win to take a 3-1 series lead.

The East's top seed has been eliminated. With their 114-105 win in Game 5 on Tuesday night, the Indiana Pacers knocked out the No. 1 seed Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the 2025 NBA playoffs and clinched a spot in the Eastern Conference finals for the second consecutive season.

Former Indiana men’s basketball players Tamar Bates and Mackenzie Mgabako participated in the NBA Draft Combine and both were in action in scrimmages played on Tuesday at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. Mgbako, who played at Indiana from 2023-25, but who has since transferred to Texas A&M, was a part of Team Domercant in the scrimmage.

NBA playoffs are now down to six teams as the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors have now been eliminated in the conference semifinals.

Indiana has not made the NBA Finals since 2000, and has never won an NBA title. Rick Carlisle last coached in the Finals with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011, and he knows his team is close.

Tyrese Haliburton received a comparison to Caitlin Clark from Isiah Thomas, further linking the Pacers and Fever star together.
