Scattered and isolated showers are expected along the coast ahead of a cold front moving into South Florida Wednesday night. A coastal flood statement remains in effect for the Florida Keys through late Wednesday. Minor saltwater flooding is likely, and storm drains are likely to overflow in the area.

Melissa is not expected to make landfall in Florida or the U.S. The powerful storm made landfall on Jamaica Tuesday morning and on Cuba early Wednesday morning. It's expected to move across the Bahamas later today and passes near Bermuda on Thursday night.

Florida Lieutenant Gov. Jay Collins is expected to tour Mount Dora on Wednesday after torrential rain washed out roads and flooded homes Sunday night. More than 17 inches of rain fell in Mount Dora and more than 19 inches in nearby Eustis.

Officials are evaluating damage and impacts after several inches of rain fell on portions of Brevard County and Lake County Sunday night, flooding streets, yards, and some homes.

After storms lashed South Florida with as much as 10 inches of rain in Pompano Beach and significant flash flooding in Boca Raton, a taste of fall weather is on its way.
