Oakland police confirmed that former NFL running back Doug Martin was involved in a break-in at a home before suffering a medical emergency.

Doug Martin, a two-time Pro Bowler who played for the Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, reportedly died in police custody, leaving sports fans curious with his cause of death.

"Doug's parents were actively seeking medical assistance for him and had contacted local authorities for support," the statement said.
