The plan has been in place since the start of training camp. J.J. McCarthy is clearly the Vikings quarterback of the future, and he will take over under center once head coach Kevin O’Connell determines that he is ready to trigger the offense and have it run at a high level.

The problem this team faces is that they just spent a top-ten pick on J.J. McCarthy so for them to endorse Darnold and discard him is no easy task.
