San Francisco’s new mayor, Daniel Lurie, is wasting no time acting on his campaign promise to reform City Hall. Even before his first day in office, Lurie announced structural changes to his office, creating four new policy director positions aimed at improving interdepartmental collaboration and streamlining the city’s slow and complex bureaucracy.

The ordinance is up for a hearing Wednesday and Lurie is lobbying the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to approve the plan that would cut city red tape to address the fentanyl crisis.
