In Chicago, tens of thousands converged on Daley Plaza. In the suburbs, nearly 2,000 protested in Joliet and 1,200 in Elmhurst. “No Kings is a nationwide day of defiance,” according to organizers.

Trump turned 79 on June 14, 2025, same day as No Kings Day rallies, with some down the road from Mar-a-Lago. More protests are planned July 4 weekend.

But a spark also needs fuel. It seems unlikely that a single-day organized protest such as “No Kings” could make a difference, even in swaying the policy decisions of Trump.
