Two-time defending world champions Madison Chock and Evan Bates danced their way through three decades of popular American music on Friday night, and right into a big lead after the rhythm dance at the U.

The world of competitive figure skating is back, The U.S. Figure Skating Championships will take place this weekend in Wichita, Kansas, and will be carried on NBC, Peacock, and USA Network.

World champion Ilia Malinin landed a record-tying six clean quadruple jumps to win his third consecutive U.S. figure skating title. Malinin, a 20-year-old from the D.C. area, landed a quad flip, quad Axel (a jump no other skater has ever landed), two quad Lutzes, quad toe loop and quad Salchow in Sunday’s free skate in Wichita, Kansas.

Amber Glenn defended her title as the U.S. Figure Skating Championships on Friday night, landing a massive triple axel early in the program and then watching in stressful anticipation as Alysa Liu came up just short of surpassing her.

The U.S. worlds team was chosen during the U.S. national championships in Wichita over the weekend, and skaters are starting to put together their resume for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics next February.
