A winter storm brought snow to the Richmond region, prompting a winter storm warning and affecting travel, power outages, and school closures.
The official snowfall total for Indianapolis at the National Weather Service near the airport on the southwest side was 7.8". That makes Jan. 5-6, 2024 the city's snowiest storm since Feb. 15-16, 2021, when 8.1" fell. To put it into perspective, that number nearly matches the seasonal snow totals for Indy the past three seasons:
