After a three-point game in Thursday’s loss, Philadelphia Flyers’ rookie Matvei Michkov is on top of the rookie scoring ladder. Michkov has scored 19 goals, 25 assists, and 44 points in 58 games.
Yeah, sure, some guys sashay into the NHL as teenagers and immediately start skating around like they own the place. Gretzky, Ovechkin, Crosby, Lemieux, Hawerchuk, Orr, Murphy, Barrasso. Freaks, every last one of them.
Michkov becomes the first rookie of the 2024-25 campaign to earn Rookie of the Month honors for the second time and the only Flyers rookie in franchise history to do so in the last 30 years. He previously earned the award in October after leading all rookies with four goals and tying for the points lead with nine.

Matvei Michkov's resurgence out of the 4 Nations Face-Off break led to the 20-year-old winger being named the NHL's rookie of the month for February. It's Michkov second rookie of the month nod. He took home the honor in October, as well.
Former Flyers Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost returned, and current Flyers Andrei Kuzmenko and Jakob Pelletier were facing their old pals. It was also a battle of Calder Trophy candidates, Matvei Michkov and Dustin Wolf.
