The Texas governor has long pushed for state lawmakers to end what he calls “easy bail policies” in places like Houston.

Abbott’s appearance will come just a week after he joined other Republican governors around the nation at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.

Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday appointed outgoing state Rep. Shawn Thierry, who recently switched from the Democrat to Republican party, to the state’s juvenile justice board.
