Inspectors determined that the leak originated from a broken valve cover on the railcar, which was promptly repaired. None of the acetone was released on the ground.
A pedestrian on the train tracks in Northeast Philadelphia was hit by a CSX freight train. His leg was pinned under a wheel and needed to be amputated.
According to CSX, the train crashed into the car at the Evans Street and Old Slag Road crossing in Vonore.
CSX said the train was part of its fleet and was pulling 28 cars loaded with coal. The train line said nobody was hurt and no chemical leaks or spills occurred.
