Egg farmers have been plagued by widespread outbreaks of bird flu. Experts say it's hard to predict when the industry will bounce back from the illness' effects.

Trader Joe's and other retailers have recently moved to enact a purchase limit on eggs as a result of issues brought on by the avian bird flu crisis.

Some grocery chains are leaving the decision up to individual stores or regions, while others have implemented restrictions at all stores. Trader Joe’s is allowing customers to buy one dozen eggs per day,
