Chris Jasper, who helped bring the slow-grooving Isley Brothers into an upbeat electronic era, died Sunday at 73.

He helped shape 1970s hits including “For the Love of You” and “Fight the Power.” Later he sang lead on “Caravan of Love,” which reached No. 1 on the R&B chart.

Singer Chris Jasper, who sang with the Isley Brothers and pursued a solo music career as well, died this week at age 73. He was recently diagnosed with cancer.
