Kraken co-founder David Bonderman was with family and friends when he died Wednesday, according to a family statement.

David Bonderman, who helped bring professional hockey to Seattle as a co-owner of the Kraken, died Wednesday at age 82.

In 2018, he led the effort to bring NHL hockey to Seattle, founding the Kraken and overseeing the construction of the state-of-the-art Climate Pledge Arena.
