We now know why AMD chose to delay RDNA 4 — well, kind of - MSN
McAfee implies there’ll be plenty of RDNA 4 cards to go around, which is great, especially considering that Nvidia’s RTX 50-series might be very hard to come by at launch.
More specifically, it was an RDNA 2 GPU, meaning it used the second generation of RDNA 2 technology. The GPU has sub-units called Work Group Processors (WGP). PlayStation 5 has 18 of them.
By largely carrying over RDNA 2 technology for the shaders in the PS5 Pro's GPU, game developers can compile a single code path and have it run on both the PS5 and the PS5 Pro.
