Max Dowman has become the youngest player to start for Arsenal after being named in their starting XI for the Carabao Cup tie against Brighton. Dowman, who is 15 years and 302 days old, beats the previous record set by Jack Porter, who started in the Carabao Cup against Bolton Wanderers in September 2024 aged 16 years 72 days.

Max Dowman made Arsenal history in midweek after being handed his first ever start in the 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Brighton. In doing so, he became the club’s youngest ever starter – another remarkable milestone for Mikel Arteta’s youthful side.
The Hale End academy star was handed a full debut for the Gunners, starting his first match after several substitute appearances. In starting the match, Max Dowman became Arsenal’s youngest-ever starter, smashing even more records as he continues his rise.
Dowman though also showed his strength by competing in 15 duels, winning nine of them, and drawing the most fouls, as per TNT Sport on X [29 October]. Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace means the Gunners are currently top of the Premier League table, so Dowman is unlikely to earn a starting place anytime soon.
