The Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro Plus, and Mate 70 RS will also be offered with Huawei’s HarmonyOS 4.3, which first launched in August 2019 as an alternative to Google’s Android OS and is still compatible with Android’s extensive app library.

Huawei Technologies Co. said that from next year its new smartphones and tablets will run on an operating system stripped of Google’s open-source Android technology.

With launch of its Mate 70 and foldable Mate X6 smartphones, Huawei unveiled its latest mobile OS that it says no longer uses any Android open-source code, Bloomberg reported. HarmonyOS Next was supposedly built entirely in-house as part of Huawei's plans to do build a platform entirely free of major US tech sources,

Huawei has been talking about its plans to make an Android-free mobile OS that will have its own apps and features. Well, that day is finally here with the new HarmonyOS version launching with the Huawei Mate 70 smartphone this week.
