Minnesota state officials warned the bill would cut $500 million a year in reimbursements for hospital and nursing home coverage.

With the passage of President Donald Trump's "big beautiful bill," there are lots of questions surrounding cuts to Medicaid. Over 3 million people in Illinois are on the tax-payer funded medical program.

The “Big Beautiful Bill," as Trump has called it, includes a $1 trillion reduction in spending over the next decade for Medicaid, the government insurance program for low-income Americans. Trump signed the bill on July 4.
