NBA insider Brian Windhorst reported for ESPN, "Even if Horford doesn't re-sign -- he doesn't plan to retire and would like to return, sources said -- Boston is facing a payroll, with luxury taxes, next season of $464 million, according to ESPN front office insider Bobby Marks."
Horford ended Monday's 121-113 loss to the Knicks in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals with five points (1-2 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, four assists and two steals across 37 minutes.
Brian Windhorst of ESPN reported that Horford "doesn't plan to retire" and would prefer to return the Celtics for 2025-26.
Whether Al Horford will remain with the Celtics, though, is uncertain as he's a free agent this offseason amid the team's salary woes.
Boston is set to face New York in Game 4 of the series that will take place at Madison Square Garden on Monday, May 12.
