Starting early Monday afternoon, severe storms hit northern parts of the Houston-area, bringing some heavy rain and a tornado.

A National Weather Service storm survey on Tuesday has determined that two tornadoes hit the Houston area on Monday, the agency said.

The tornado damaged neighborhoods in northwest Houston, with strong winds knocking down trees, damaging property and knocking out power near Cypress and Klein.
