Airing Thursday, Dec. 18, the two-hour TV event revisits holiday sketches from throughout the show's 50-year history.
Cher! The music legend returns for only her second episode as Musical Guest. Her first was in 1987 during Season 13, fresh off her 18th studio album. Now she has 27 studio albums, and most recently released the holiday-themed "Christmas" in 2023.
Introduced by actress Candice Bergen, Cher took to the stage dressed from top to tow in black, and backed by Paul Shaffer & The World’s Most Dangerous Band, guitarist G.E. Smith and backing singer Patti Darcy-Jones.
SNL’s holiday promo goes viral after Cher recreates her “Snap out of it!” moment and playfully slaps host Ariana Grande, as the Wicked star previews the December 20 episode.
You simply can’t discuss the holidays on SNL without mentioning Adam Sandler ‘s “The Hanukkah Song.” It’s gone down in history as one of the show’s most iconic moments of all time, and we’ve got to give credit where it’s due. But since the episode aired in 1994, the show has brought us even funnier moments that top this one.
The final new “SNL” episode of 2025 will air on Dec. 20. “Wicked: For Good” star Ariana Grande will close the season when she hosts the show for the third time. Her return to “SNL” for the 2025 Christmas episode comes just over a year after she stopped by Studio 8H for Season 50.
Ariana Grande talks about hosting the Christmas episode of Saturday Night Live, and gushes over Cher, calling the legendary singer “just brilliant” after meeting her for the first time.
