Stocks closed lower Monday as the market failed to sustain the momentum that sent the Dow Jones Industrial Average to a record high at the end of last week.

Inside the blue chip Dow industrials, Boeing BA, IBM IBM and Nvidia NVDA rose in premarket trading, shrugging off the mild market weakness. Boeing stock climbed 0.7%, while IBM shares gained 1%. Nvidia stock moved up 0.5% in premarket trading.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was trading lower Monday afternoon, hovering near session lows, after the index notched its first record close of 2025 on Friday. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite rose.
