Rumors have swirled around the Detroit Tigers and Alex Bregman since free agency started, and now, there are reports linking them to Nolan Arenado, too. So what are their options?

It’s a simple question Tigers fans obsess over. But I view this offseason and the Alex Bregman situation as a litmus test. The Tigers are coming off a playoff season. They have a solid young core. There is a free agent on the market who checks virtually every need possible: right-handed bat, plus defender, respected leader with a winning pedigree.

The Tigers just need to bridge the gap and sign the guy if they want to look like serious contenders in 2025. If that means doing the uncomfortable thing and ponying up a little more than they want to, then they should probably just hold their noses and do it.
