The league of Nebraska municipalities told Bellevue that it's taking a serious risk by hosting an Open Mic Night at the end of every council meeting that could cost taxpayers thousands in legal fees.

Vancouver likely won't cut its open mic policy for public comment during City Council meetings, but it will limit off-agenda comments to twice-monthly open communication sessions.

At the council’s meeting this week, Mayor Eric Johnson suggested getting rid of the open mic sessions, an option presented by city staff.

Open mic is currently allowed at every full council meeting and speakers can address any topic on their minds, including city issues and concerns not on a meeting agenda.

Dickson City will use GoToMeeting to conduct its meeting today at 4 p.m., but it will not be accessible by the public, said council President Jeff Kovaleski.
