The Philadelphia Housing Authority is laying off about 300 employees from its 1,400-person workforce starting in January. PHA president and CEO Kelvin A. Jeremiah said the move will save $28 million annually, and that it will be redirected to help residents still looking for stable housing.

Henifin made the announcement in his October 31 quarterly report. He said he had the authority to do so per the interim stipulated order. The Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority plans to sell 105 units at the City West housing development in the West End as part of a $200 million renovation project, officials announced.
