Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton revealed Thursday that he played through a broken thumb during last Sunday's 40-9 Week 8 loss to the visiting Buffalo Bills.

Last Sunday, veteran quarterback Andy Dalton had an opportunity to help the Panthers extend a winning streak. It went south in a hurry for the 15-year pro.

It appears the 4-3 Carolina Panthers are without quarterback Bryce Young when Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills come to town. Young is officially listed as doubtful to play due to his ankle injury and did not practice at all this week.

Dalton played through the injury last week. Young says he continues to "feel better and better" after full day of practice.

And Dalton is something of a legendary folk hero in Western New York. Andy Dalton's status in Buffalo stems from Week 17 of the 2017 season. The Bills needed Dalton's Bengals to beat the Baltimore Ravens to send Buffalo to the playoffs for the first time in 17 years.

Dalton (thumb) is listed as active Sunday at Green Bay, Darin Gantt of the Panthers ' official site reports.
