A huge key was the Wings' power play, which had so lethal in recent games (power play goals in 10 of their last 11 games). The Wings did score once, with Lucas Raymond scoring his 19th goal, but the Wings couldn't match the two or three power-play goals they had scored six of the last 11 games.

Ville Husso is happy to be back with the Detroit Red Wings, but his stay may not last long. Goalie Cam Talbot will start the Wings' Friday game against the Chicago Blackhawks. But Alex Lyon, who left Tuesday's game after the first period with an upper-body injury, could be back soon.

But it's on the defensive end that, possibly, bad habits from early in the season are beginning to resurface. McLellan, who took over Dec. 26 and the Wings immediately went 7-2-0 afterward, wants to stomp out those habits before they hurt the Wings again.
